Annual Readathon
The 8th Annual SMFC Education Foundation Readathon is happening January 19th - February 2nd, 2024! ALL students in PreK-8th grade are invited to participate.

Join us to "Read Together" as a district and raise funds for important programs like music, STEAM education, as well as staff and student support.

Readathon Prizes
Preschool Classroom Prizes:
Every Preschool classroom with students registered will receive a book from either Author Margaret Chiu Greanias or
Author Vicky Fang.
Middle School Student Individual Prizes:
All 6th-8th graders who participate will be entered into an online raffle for
Apple AirPods! Earn up to 4 online raffle tickets for completing these tasks:

1 raffle ticket for Registering
+ 1 raffle ticket for Reaching Out with at least
three email/text donation requests
+ 1 raffle ticket for Reading and Recording at least 500 minutes
+ 1 raffle ticket for Raising at least $25
Teacher Prizes
(Preschool - 5th grade*):
Teachers who record minutes for their students by Friday, January 26 will be entered into a raffle for a Reading Bug
gift card for their classroom library.

Elementary School Grand Prizes:
The school with the highest average reading minutes will receive an
author assembly by Vicky Fang and the Golden Book Trophy!

The school with the highest participation in fundraising (not total
monies earned) will receive an author assembly by Margaret Chiu Greanias!
Elementary Classroom Prizes:
The classroom at each elementary school with the highest average reading minutes will receive an extra recess!

Margaret Greanias is a children’s book author who writes books to delight children, including MAXIMILLIAN VILLAINOUS (Running Press Kids, 2018), AMAH FARAWAY (Bloomsbury Kids, 2022), HOOKED ON BOOKS (Peachtree Publishing, 2023), and HOW THIS BOOK GOT RED (Sourcebooks Jabberwocky, 2023). Vicky Fang is the author of the Layla and the Bots chapter books series, the Best Buddies early reader series, the I Can Code board book series, and the picture book Invent-a-Pet. She is the author-illustrator of Friendbots, AlphaBot, and the forthcoming Ava Lin and One Mad Cat series. A former Google product designer, she now writes and illustrates children’s books full-time.
